Description of the job
The successful applicant will ensure the Structural integrity of the Single Aisle Wing and Pylon sub assembly of the A320 family product.
Tasks
Tasks
Either directly, or via team, carry out static stress calculations to assess design solutions for a whole range of tasks, ranging from concept design to manufacturing Concessions against the Aircraft Design requirements
- Ensure fatigue and damage tolerance requirements are met
- Liaise with other functions and projects to ensure stress requirements are fully integrated
- Operate as an approval signatory for stress
- Assist in the structural design process to help ensure optimised design quality
- Report critical technical issues up through the functional line management chain.
- Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements
- Provide technical leadership and approval for team members, new participants; supply base and other sub-contracted work
- When required, undertake appropriate, associated project management tasks.
Your skills
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Substantial experience working as a stress engineer involved in the analysis of structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods.
- Knowledge of composite materials would be of benefit but not essential.
- The ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems under pressure and to provide the appropriate direction and guidance to team members.
- The ability to develop and coach less experienced stress engineers.
- A good understanding of aircraft production methods and processes would be an advantage.
- The ability to ensure that solutions are technically integrated across the whole project.
- Team Leadership skills with high regard for both internal and external customers, whilst maintaining Aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle
- Aeronautical Engineering degree, Chartered Engineer or equivalent
-Signatory Level or capability to gain within 6 months
-Excellent communication skills, including both verbal and written English
-Broad range of standard hand and computer stress analysis tools.
-A pro-active approach to problem solving and the ability to demonstrate good leadership skills.
