This position is based in: Central London.

Our client isgrowing their Aluminium analysis business and is looking to add a talented and motivated individual to their Costs & Power team. This role represents a great opportunity to develop an understanding of the complex processes involved in the extraction and processing of metals, and the production of power. The successful candidate will build his/her expertise across the diverse aluminium industry from raw materials to finished products, and from market outlooks to cost reports.

The Research Analyst will work in a team of five to develop and improve the CRU costs analysis across the aluminium supply chain while participating in the conceptual design and development of CRUs Aluminium cost models and reports. The focus of activities will be researching key input variables and cost drivers in the processing value chain, collecting and forecasting mine, refinery, smelter and power plant operational data. Subsequently, data will be entered in the cost models and analysed.

Main Responsibilities:
Data collection & analysis
Participating in conceptual design and development of CRUs Aluminium cost models and reports.
Collecting data relating to production, demand, trade and prices for aluminium and power.
Maintaining a structured approach to data collection, storage and analysis.
Undertaking periodic research travel visits to mines/smelters/refineries/power plants worldwide - technical knowledge would be an advantage.

Report writing:
Performing detailed analysis and interpretation of data and statistics to help generate forecasts for short- and long-run developments in operating costs.
Compiling high quality qualitative and quantitative reports.

Promotion of CRUs presence in the aluminium industry:
Responding to ad hoc client and internal requests for information and opinions in a timely and professional manner.
Developing and maintaining contacts with key industry players to broaden and refine knowledge of industry.
Presenting at seminars and conferences and to clients our research on costs throughout the Aluminium value chain.
Liaising with sales and marketing in promoting CRUs products

Skills Required:
Communication skills: Complete fluency in written and spoken English. Confidence in talking to market participants by telephone and presenting at client meetings or conferences.
Analytical skills: The ability to critically analyse data and information. A person that can quickly identify key trends and drivers in order to generate perceptive conclusions and market insight.
Numeracy: Familiarity with handling large data sets and understanding mathematical concepts and processes. Someone who can interpret, manipulate and manage data.
Technical skills: Ability to understand the complex processes involved in the production of bauxite, alumina and aluminium. A good understanding of power markets and their dynamics.
Performance driven: Ability to meet targets and work to strict deadlines. Good attention to detail.
Commercial awareness: Awareness of the commercial aspects of the job and always seeking ways to maximise revenue/profit whilst generating the best value for clients.
IT Skills: Excellent Excel spreadsheet and data management skills as well as proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.

Salary:
25,000 to 28,000 p.a. depending on experience
